The guidelines mentioned hereafter follow the principles, and rely upon the examples, where possible, given in the “CHICAGO STYLE”. The Chicago style gives a short and a brief citation, which consists of the name of the author or the name of the authors and the date of the publication. The full details of the source are then given in a reference list at the end of the paper or the document. Whereas, the short in-text references are given in parentheses (round brackets). Generally, it consists of the family name of the author, which is followed by the year of the publication and by any relevant page numbers. No further distinction is made between the books, web documents, journal articles or other formats. For example, if you want to provide reference to a book, which is appearing in the text as (John, 2000, 26-28) would be found in the reference list as under:
John, Smith, 2000. Information Technology and its uses, Baltimore, Maryland: Williams and Williams.
Marry, John., and J.S, Thomson, 2000. Strategic management and its approaches. Today 14 (6): 230-300.
PLEASE NOTE:
The hanging indent for each and every reference makes the alphabetical sequence more vivid and obvious.
Chicago style basically differs from some other author-date referencing styles as the authors’ names are basically given as they appear exactly on the source material and the second or further authors’ names are not reversed and saved.
